Adopt-a-Village in Guatemala is a small, grassroots non-profit that works with remote villages in the rugged northwestern Huehuetenango region. This area is one of the top five in Guatemala that contains the worst levels of poverty. Few public services or other forms of assistance exist. AAV partners with leaders of these Mayan villages to build a more promising future for their children by providing education to Mayan youth and training to families in sustainable gardening to combat one of the world’s highest levels of chronic child malnutrition.
